How is Ūnika Practicing Sustainability?

As a swimwear brand, the health and safety of our oceans is extremely important to us. At Unika Swim, we practice an environmental and sustainable approach to swimwear. From our material to ethical practices, we maintain our sustainable practices.

From the Ocean

We proudly use ECONYL®, a 100% regenerated nylon yarn derived from pre and post-industrial waste. ECONYL® collects waste and discarded fish nets from the ocean and landfills to then clean and create premium, durable and recycled fabric.

Reduced Waste

To utilize every inch of our fabric, we make hair scrunchies and other accessories out of our scrap fabric including swim bags for your suits with recycled zippers. Our shopping bags are also made of recycled materials.

Ethical Practices

At Ūnika, we pride ourselves on our ethical practices and transparency. We make everything by hand in our storefront in Toronto, Canada - it is an open concept studio so that our clients can see the production process for themselves. What makes us different from fast fashion and overseas manufacturing is that we have nothing to hide. Our work conditions are safe and visible for every customer who comes into our store. Whether we are drafting, cutting, or sewing, we've noticed that our clients are always intrigued and compliment our process.

In an effort to reduce our waste, everything is made to order and by hand in our boutique in Toronto, Canada so that we have no deadstock from past seasons. As mentioned in our sustainability mission, we work with ECONYL® that is made in Italy and the rest of our supply chain is within North America.

We are always looking for better ways to improve on our sustainability mission. Above all else, we are proud to provide you with quality swimwear without compromising our planet and our oceans.
